Darley Dale Band

Latest News

We are very pleased to say that the band began rehearsing again on Monday 6th September at South Darley Village Hall.  Welcome back!  If you are a brass player, frustrated by the long lock-down, come along and have a blow.   Directions are on the “Join Us” page.

We are delighted that Darley Dale Town Council has awarded to Keith Sheldon a Lifetime Achievement Award for his continuous support of Darley Dale Band over 72 years!

Early in 2020 the band was delighted to announce that Chris Fower  had accepted the position of Musical Director in succession to Roger Jepson. Unfortunately he did not have an opportunity to conduct a concert before lock-down. Chris brings a wealth of experience in performing (Grimethorpe Colliery Band, Michael Nyman Band etc.) and teaching and we very much look forward to working with him.

Darley Dale Band currently has an almost full team of players and welcomes enquiries about membership. We have a number of instruments available for loan. At the moment we do not provide training for beginners (although we have had a training band and could do so again) so Grade 5 level on paper or the equivalent in experience is desirable.  If you would like to join the Band (or at least give us a try) you can use the “Contact Us” tab or contact our band manager Steve Thompson direct on 07876 190132 or [email protected]

Or just come to South Darley Village Hall at 7.15 on a Monday evening. The hall is at Cross Green on the B5057 road from Darley Bridge to Wensley, opposite St Mary’s Church.  The post code is DE4 2JT.  You will be very welcome.
