About Us

Darley Dale Band has enjoyed a revival. We have attracted players from Darley and the towns and villages around who enjoy practising and performing together to a high standard without the constraints of contesting.  Several of the band members have Championship Section experience however and provide welcome support for others who, for example, learned an instrument at school and have rediscovered the pleasure of banding.

We rehearse from 7.30 to 9.30 on Monday evenings at South Darley Village Hall which is at Cross Green DE4 2JT on the road from Darley Bridge to Wensley.

Our varied programme has included village carnivals, Sunday evenings in Darley Dale, concerts for local community groups, the Remembrance parade, Christmas music at St Helen’s and St Mary’s churches and events with the Darley Dale Twinning Association.

Since its formation in 1880 the Band has had its ups and downs – closing down in the 1960s, reforming in 1984 and reviving again in the 2010s. We are now almost up to full strength and growing our reputation as a friendly band providing high quality entertainment.
