Darley Dale Band

Latest News

We wish all our friends and supporters a happy Christmas and a healthy and musical new year.

With some band members affected by Covid there will be no further band practices until, all being well,  10th January 2022.

Some band members will be at Winster (by the market hall) on Sunday 12th December at 6pm, playing carols while the village Christmas tree lights are turned on and then enjoying some mulled wine and a mince pie.

We are delighted that Darley Dale Town Council has awarded to Keith Sheldon a Lifetime Achievement Award for his continuous support of Darley Dale Band over 72 years!

About Us

Darley Dale Band has enjoyed a revival. We have attracted players from Darley and the towns and villages around who enjoy practising and performing together to a high standard without the constraints of contesting.  Several of the band members have Championship Section experience however and provide welcome support for others who, for example, learned an instrument at school and have rediscovered the pleasure of banding.

We rehearse from 7.30 to 9.30 on Monday evenings at South Darley Village Hall which is at Cross Green DE4 2JT on the road from Darley Bridge to Wensley.

Our varied programme has included village carnivals, Sunday evenings in Darley Dale, concerts for local community groups, the Remembrance parade, Christmas music at St Helen’s and St Mary’s churches and events with the Darley Dale Twinning Association.

Since its formation in 1880 the Band has had its ups and downs – closing down in the 1960s, reforming in 1984 and reviving again in the 2010s. We are now almost up to full strength and growing our reputation as a friendly band providing high quality entertainment.
